Bird Watching
The plentiful bird life that populates the waters and shores of Lake Trasimeno varies considerably from season to season.
In Autumn and Winter many species arrive here from northern Europe, the most common of which are coots, ducks of various species, cormorans and grebes.
With the arrival of Spring and Summer many of the lake’s winter birdlife leaves and migratory species from warmer countries come to breed, including a number of different species of heron.
The OASI LA VALLE has a visitors centre with the following facilities:
- an electrically powered boat for excursions and guided tours of the lake,
- an exhibition on the history and nature of the area,
- a documentation centre with texts on nature and science,
- a teaching centre,
- a bird-marking centre,
- a wood jetty and observation points.
