Foreigners wishing to enter and settle in Italy must possess a regular permit of stay which is also indispensable to register at the Registry Office as resident and to benefit from medical assistance.

It is very important to know that whoever enters illegally the territory of the Italian State is unable to regularize his/her position while remaining in Italy.

Illegal immigrants (even if they have found a job) wishing to regularize their position must first return to their country of origin and only from there they may apply for a regular permit of stay.

It is possible to legally apply for a permit of stay enabling the entry in the territory of the Italian State for reasons concerning contract work:

Guarantee provided by an Italian citizen
